Last Saturday saw Birmingham City’s unbeaten home record fall to Bristol City – a rather uninspiring performance for everyone involved. It proved to be a missed opportunity to gain points on those play-off places.
Monk and his coaching staff will no doubt look for a response from his squad, and that is something you can guarantee with this team. We now travel to Blackburn, who are particularly strong at Elwood Park – a tough afternoon no doubt.
It has been confirmed that club captain Micheal Morrison will be out for Saturday, therefore it’s a massive opportunity for Marc Roberts to stake a claim and show why Harry Redknapp splashed over £3m on the former Barnsley centre half. Jota again has been training all week, but the final decision on his inclusion will be down to the boss who will want to have all his players fit for the busiest part of the season. The only other absentees are still Isaac Vassell and David Davis.
Here’s my predicted line-up for Blues:
Colin, Roberts, Dean, Pedersen
Mahoney, Gardner, Kieft, Maghoma
Apart from Roberts in for Morrison it’ll be more of the same from the Blues due to the lack of squad depth and the inability to sign players to cover that problem (Cheers EFL). I can see Jota being on the bench and coming on in the second half, that is definitely going to be a game changer.
Overall I think it’s going to be a tight game fought out by two very capable sides, both looking to close the gap on the play off places. I think Blackburn are going to frustrate Blues and prove to be a real tough test for us. I’d be happy to come away with a point considering their home form and the players they have in their squad – therefore I’m going for a 1-1 draw, Adams being the goalscorer.
Bring on the weekend and Keep Right On!
