Oldham Athletic Preview vs Crewe (A)

Oldham Athletic return to League Two action this weekend as they face Crewe away at Gresty Road off the back off a 2-0 win over Maidstone United which saw them progress to the third round.

What awaits them is a tie with Fulham in January and so the mood should be high in the camp ahead of this week.

It is a close tie based off the table with the Latics 13th and Crewe 15th going into this weekend.

It will likely be an unchanged team from the weekend with Iversen in goal and Hunt, Edmundson, Clarke and Dummigan in the defence.

Missilou, Maouche and Nepomuceno will likely play in the midfield due to injuries to the likes of Gardner, Lyden and Baxter.

Lyden could return to the side this weekend but the extent of his injury is not fully known as of yet.

Up front Ishmael Miller if his ban is up could return to the side alongside Chris O’Grady and Callum Lang on Saturday.

Either that or the front three could see Sam Surridge continue his return to the side.

The Bench will of course be different with 15 year old Jack Williams and 18-year-old Max Norman more than likely not being involved.

The only injury concerns also include Jonathan Benteke, Ousmane Fane, Zeus de la Paz, Dan Gardner and Jose Baxter meaning the bench could ultimately not be the highest quality for the weekend.

With no game taking place on the Wednesday, the Rochdale game was called off meaning that the team will be more fresh.

This could work very much in Frankie’s favour and could lead to a brilliant away win for the Latics.

Predicted XI – Iversen, Dummigan, Clarke, Edmundson, Hunt, Missilou, Nepomuceno, Maouche, Lang, O’Grady, Surridge

Crewe 0-1 Oldham

I can see Oldham winning this to continue their march back up the table and with Surridge back fully. The team have played well in spells as of late and so o see a slim win at 1-0 against The Alex.
