Blackburn Preview vs Sheffield Wednesday (H)

This Saturday will see the Rovers return to Ewood Park to take on Sheffield Wednesday.

The Blues will be going into the match with their tails down, as two poor performance have led to two embarrassing defeats in the last couple of games.

However, Ewood has been turned into something of a fortress over the past year or so, meaning that there is some optimism going into the game.

Our opponents, Sheffield Wednesday, sit in 16th place with 23 points in their first 19 games.

Fan favourite Elliott Bennett missed the last game and it’s unsure as to whether he’ll be back in the squad or not, but changes do need to be made somewhere in order to change our fortunes.

Adam Armstrong seemed to be coming into good form, though he seemed relatively non-existent last time out against Wigan so fans will be hoping that he will have an improved performance this time around.

Predicted starting XI:

Raya

Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell

Evans Smallwood

Reed Dack Palmer

Graham

Given the recent poor performances, I’d say that it should be time to handout starts to new signings Ben Brereton and Joe Rothwell, as both have impressed since their arrival. However, Mowbray seems reluctant to make them starters so we will have to see his choice of team this Saturday.

On top of this, and this is also something I never expected to say, but Bradley Dack may be in need of a rest. His talent on the ball isn’t in doubt but his recent games have shown otherwise. However, this can’t all be put on Dack as he has also been played out of his natural position.

Prediction:

I’m reluctant to back Rovers to win this following the last few games against Preston and Wigan, but with being at Ewood it’s also hard to see a Wednesday win coming this Saturday.
