Lincoln City will be looking to jump back to the top of Sky Bet League Two this weekend as they host local rivals and in-form Mansfield Town.
Danny Cowley’s men slipped down to second position over the international break with their game at Yeovil Town being postponed.
This gave MK Dons a chance to claim top spot which they did with a 2-0 home win over newly promoted Macclesfield Town.
Opponents Mansfield sit in fifth with their decent form seeing them rise up the division. However, the Imps are five points clear of their visitors with the game in hand.
The last time Lincoln played a league game was right at the start of November as they brushed aside Forest Green Rovers. John Akinde and Kellan Gordon getting the goals to give the Imps all the points.
Since then, Cowley’s side have confirmed progression in both the Checkatrade Trophy and the FA Cup.
David Flitcroft and his men will not be as fresh as their hosts having forced Sky Bet League One side Charlton Athletic to a replay.
But the Addick’s showed their class on Tuesday night, making light work of the Stags. Former Lincoln City target Lyle Taylor scored a hat-trick for the London-based club with Mark Marshall and Nicky Ajose putting the icing on the cake.
The Stags have already visited Sincil Bank once this season in the Checkatrade Trophy and left with all three points.
Matt Rhead put the Imps ahead against his former club but goals from Calum Butcher and Tyler Walker gave Flitcroft’s side maximum points in controversial style.
