Joey Barton’s men face a 324 mile trip to Plymouth Argyle this coming weekend as they look to get all three points in this League One clash.
The Cod’s come into the game on steady form, with 6 wins, 6 draws and 6 loses to their name in the league, and now sit 12th in the table. This upcoming game is great opportunity for Fleetwood to push on, with their opposition from the Cornish Coast sitting in the relegation zone.
Fleetwood’s game last week ended in a 0-0 draw having lacked the cutting edge to put their opportunities to bed. This time around they’ll be hoping lethal striker Paddy Madden can find his shooting boots and add to his tally of 8 goals in the League. However something that manager Joey Barton will be aware of is that 3 members of his side are now one yellow card away from facing a ban, meaning that if they receive a yellow card in the game vs Plymouth they will then be unavailable for selection against Coventry next Tuesday. Madden is one of these players mentioned, alongside defender Ashley Eastham and veteran Ross Wallace. With Fleetwood wanting to push up from mid table they need their star men on the pitch, but they also need to not alter their aggressive style of play too much even with the threat of suspension looming over some of their players.
The home team on the other hand are coming off the back of a 5-1 defeat at Luton so will certainly be hoping to make amends against Fleetwood. Freddie Ladapo has scored 8 goals for the team so he will be a threat facing the Cod’s back-line.
Previous Meetings- Fleetwood’s last visit to Plymouth came last season and ended in a 2-1 for them, Jordy Hiwula and Amari’i Bell with the goals for them. With 15 goals in the last 5 games between the two, this weekend’s game certainly seems an opportunity for players on both sides to improve their goal tally.
