Reading Preview vs Swansea

At some point this season, Reading might back up a win with a positive performance in the following match.

Tuesday night’s performance was a repeat of the defeat away at West Brom before the international break. First 45 minutes were positive. But then, in typical fashion this season, it all falls apart after half time. In combination with such a poor performance, both goals were awful defensively. ANOTHER set-piece goal, and a counter attack that could have and should have been dealt with long before the chance arrived. It was nothing short of infuriating. It’s getting more and more painful to watch, and even worse to be writing about it every week.

I’ve been very much Clement out for a long time. The lackluster, tame, performance void of any creativity and imagination, has done nothing to help his cause. a large quantity of fuel was added to that fire, was the emerging news that Mo Barrow is currently out of the side due to a ‘disciplinary issue.’ From the outside looking inwards its a case of two stubborn parties and Clement wielding his power. This could have and should have been dealt with behind closed doors without attracting publicity.

Saturday should see a few changes. Liam Kelly and John Swift have proven on a number of occasions that they cannot play in the same XI. Clement could put all of his midfielders on the pitch, but it still wouldn’t fill the Danny Williams shaped hole. No midfielder stamped their authority on a game in the manner that he did. January has to be used wisely, in a number of areas.

I’m unsure whether McNulty and Meyler picked up injuries before Tuesdays game, as they both missed out. Garath McCleary played more minutes and should be nearing full fitness. Hopefully he can return to form sooner than later. Anssi Jaakkola certainly wasn’t at fault for either goal so should remain between the sticks. My predicted lineup for Saturday is as follows;

GK: Anssi Jaakkola

RB: Andy Yiadom

CB: Tiago Ilori

CB: Liam Moore (C)

LB: Tyler Blackett

RM: Garath McCleary

CM: Leandro Bacuna

CM: David Meyler

CM: Andy Rinomhota

LM: Yakou Meite

ST: Jon Dadi Bodvarsson

Can’t see anything but a defeat on Saturday, another 2-1. Up the Biscuitmen!
