Oldham Athletic Preview vs Northampton Town (A)

Oldham Athletic after a late 2-0 victory over Cheltenham Town mid week which got the side back on track next travel to Northampton Town this weekend aiming to continue their brilliant away form.

Sixfields brings back bad memories for the Latics faithful with it being the site of the clubs relegation to League Two on the last day of last season.

In terms of injury news ahead of the clash, it is not known whether Sam Surridge will return this weekend or not but Callum Lang and Jonathan Benteke showed on Tuesday that there isn’t just the Bournemouth loanee able to score.

Benteke made sure that he left his mark on his first real game time in a while and will now be pushing for a start on Saturday.

As will Ishmael Miller who played well when brought on for Jose Baxter, a player who supposedly was booed off the pitch against Cheltenham.

The back four will likely be the same against Northampton with Tom Hamer playing well in replacing the spot left in the back four by the injured Andy Taylor.

Christopher Missilou, Gevaro Nepomuceno and Dan Gardner started in the midfield and will likely keep their places.

Nepomuceno will in particular look to hold down his starting position with many fans calling for him to get more of a run out after being left out of the team.

Like alluded to its unknown in terms of the Surridge situation barring that he is a couple of weeks away but Benteke, Lang and O’Grady as well as interchanging one with Miller could be the answer in the short term at least.

Predicted XI – Iversen, Hamer, Edmundson, Clarke, Hunt, Missilou, Gardner, Nepomuceno, O’Grady, Lang, Miller

Predicted Score – Oldham 1-1 Northampton

Predicting a draw on the road here for the Latics. Northampton seem to have found a new lease of life under Keith Curle and so it could be a tricky away day for the Latics. There is cause for optimism though with a win on Tuesday and it will be hoped they can take that to Sixfields.
