West Bromwich Albion Preview vs Derby County (H)

Wednesday 24th October, The Hawthorns. 8:00pm.

West Bromwich Albion will need to make up for their horrendous performance against Wigan as they play Derby County on Wednesday night.

Albion fell to a 1-0 defeat at the DW Stadium, but a win against the Rams will see Darren Moore’s side get top spot of the Championship.

Derby come into the game after picking up an impressive 2-1 victory over high-flyers Sheffield United on Saturday.

A win at The Hawthorns would see Frank Lampard’s side draw level on points with Albion.

Results went both of the team’s way on Tuesday evening, with Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers all failing to win.

Team news:

West Brom:

Darren Moore has said that Matty Phillips is ‘fit and ready’ ahead of tonight’s game. The Scotland international has not played for over a month. Jake Livermore will miss the game though after picking up a red card in Saturday’s defeat to Wigan. Craig Dawson and Gareth Barry will face late fitness test to see if they will make the game. Bakary Sako and James Morrison are still believed to be lacking match fitness.

Derby County:

The Rams will also be missing a man in midfield as Craig Bryson went off injured on the weekend and won’t make Wednesday’s game. Summer signing George Evans is still out with former Baggie, George Thorne, last featuring in March. Another former Albion player, Curtis Davies, will also miss the game.

Predicted Line-ups

Albion: Johnstone; Dawson, Hegazi, Bartley; Phillips, Field, Brunt, Gibbs; Barnes; Gayle, Rodriguez

Derby: Carson, Bogle, Tomori, Keogh, Forsyth; Johnson, Mount, Huddlestone; Waghorn, Wilson Marriott.

Prediction:

I think this will be a really entertaining game with two attacking sides. It will be a really good test for Albion and will be won in the midfield battle with both teams missing big players. I think it will end up being a 1-1 draw with Gayle and Waghorn scoring for either side.
