Blackburn Preview vs Swansea City (A)

After an excellent performance at Ewood this past weekend to brush aside Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United, Rovers will travel to the Liberty Stadium to take on 15th placed Swansea City.

Blackburn will be brimming with confidence going into the fixture, as they sit on 21 points from the first 13 games, and a win world likely see the Blues into the top six.

On top of this, the Lancashire outfit have been given yet another injury boost going into the clash, as Harrison Reed and Danny Graham are expected to be available for the trip, despite picking up knocks in the victory over Leeds. Also, the club have confirmed possible return for both Ryan Nyambe and new boy Jacob Davenport, though a return for the latter duo appears to be less likely.

The opposition

Before the current season, Swansea City had spent the last few seasons in the Premier League, though appear to be struggling to readjust to life back in the Championship. They currently sit in 15th place from the first 13 games, and have only won once in their last five games.

Despite this, the Swans have proven they are more than capable of moving the ball around as they boast the highest pass accuracy in the league, and they will be eager to get themselves up the league table.

Predicted starting lineup:

Bennett Mulgrew Lenihan Bell

Evans Reed

Armstrong Dack Palmer

Assuming Danny Graham is fit for the game, I see no reason for him being out of the squad after his early goal against Leeds. Harrison Reed also impressed once again in his outing at the weekend, so the fiery midfielder will be hopeful of another start.

Adam Armstrong will almost certainly be starting the game following his recent match ball, and his pace mixed with Palmer on the other wing could be deadly when going forward.

This season, Elliott Bennett has been adapting nicely to a new role as a wing back and i would expect to see this continue, at least for the short term.

Match prediction

The passing style of play that the Swans have become accustomed to will be tricky for Rovers, but confidence is high and with current form it’s hard to see anything but a win for Tony Mowbray’s side.

Prediction – Swansea 1-3 Rovers
