West Bromwich Albion preview vs Wigan Athletic (a)

Saturday 20th October 2018, DW Stadium. 3pm.

West Brom will be hoping to carry on their form before the international break as they head to the DW Stadium to face Wigan on Saturday.

The Baggies currently sit 2nd in the Sky Bet Championship but will have the chance to take top spot as leaders Sheffield United face Derby County at 5:30pm.

It has been an inconsistent start for Albion hosts with 5 wins, 5 losses and 2 draws from their opening games.

The Latics are without a win in three games, losing their last game 4-0 to struggling Preston North End.

West Brom will be backed by a bumper 4,000+ fans on Saturday, their highest league away attendance for nearly six years.

Team News:

West Brom:

There is no new injury news for Albion. Ahmed Hegazi got through two Egypt games unscathed , getting himself on the scoresheet in the process. Darren Moore will be hoping that the break has meant Matty Phillips will be able to return from injury after missing Albion’s last three games. It is still to be seen whether Bakary Sako has gained match fitness.

Wigan Athletic:

For the Latics, the only injury is believed to be Gavin Massey. Darren Gibson will miss the game after picking up a red card in Wigan’s last outing.

Predicted line-ups:

Albion: Johnstone; Dawson, Hegazi, Bartley; Phillips, Livermore, Barry, Gibbs; Barnes; Gayle, Rodriguez.

Wigan: Walton; James, Dunkley, Kipre, Robinson; Evans, Morsy; Jacobs, Powell, Windass; Grigg.

Prediction:

With both of the sides’ form before the international break, it is hard not to think this should be a straight forward win for Albion. So, I’m going for a 2-0 win for The Baggies with goals from Gayle and Barnes.

Boing Boing.
