Rotherham United’s away form in the Sky Bet Championship must change if the Millers are to stay in the division come May 2019.
Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Birmingham saw the Millers away record in the last 31 encounters on the road reads P 31 D 3 Lost 28 which to be honest is relegation form.
Everyone knows how competitive the Sky Bet Championship is and anyone can beat anyone as it proved back on 22nd September when Birmingham went to then table-toppers Leeds United and won 2-1.
Should Rotherham produce performances that they are capable of producing then the away form will change and points will come.
Manager Paul Warne will know if they continue to perform well in games then wins/draws will come away from home.
One thing I think that Warne will be working on throughout the international break is converting chances infront of goal more frequently.
The reason why I believe that the Millers aren’t collecting points away from home is down to two things.
- Defending: Rotherham’s defending in recent away games seems to be a little bit sloppy which is allowing the opposition to take advantage and score simple goals.
- Decision Making: In the final third in some games away from the AESSEAL New York Stadium have been poor and the Millers players need to learn to look up to see if another team-mate is available in a better position to score.
If Rotherham were to sort out the two things which I’ve mentioned then they will look more likely to take points on the road.
