Leeds United Preview vs Brentford (H)

The final game before the dreaded international break sees Brentford visit Elland Road in a top six affair.

Leeds go into the 12:30 fixture off of a dominating 1-0 win against Hull. I know a one goal win doesn’t exactly scream dominant but the manner in which the Whites pulled off the win was.

They largely limited the Tigers to shots from range and the odd mistake lead to scrambles in the box, but through out the game the away side didn’t look like conceding.

Largely down to the defensive pairing of Jansson and Cooper. Both have made it into the sky championship team of the Month for their impressive performances.

This can be seen in the games against Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday, both teams rely on physicality and arial balls. The stat that the partnership made 30 arial clearances in the Millwall game shows that the two deserve to be in the team of the month.

Saturdays opponents lie 5th and with 5 less points than the Yorkshire team. In their last outing Brentford managed a 1-1 draw against Birmingham despite the blues having a man sent off.

The partnership of Maupay and Watkins have been electric this season bagging 13 between the both of them nine of them coming from Maupay.

The french striker last scored in the 2-2 draw with Reading and has looked a constant threat especially with the wife and overlapping runs of Watkins. Both men have the potential to hurt Leeds when running at the defence.

Especially with the injury to Douglas sustained in the Hull win, step in left back Pearce will likely get the nod, with minimal minutes under his belt this season he will be thrown into the deep end against one of the most attacking teams in the division.
