Derby Preview vs Norwich (H)

We only went and did it didn’t we? Derby have won the September banter award for managing to knock Man United out of the cup and lose 1-0 away to Bolton in the league, despite having over 70% of the possession, all in the space of a week! The less said about that the better, so now it’s time to turn our focus onto Norwich.

Norwich have had a mixed bag of results to start off their season, just as Derby have, however they’re also unbeaten in the last seven matches. The Canaries currently stand on 17 points in 5th place, just one point ahead of the Rams, so expect this encounter to be a tough one.

The Canaries try to play a fast, attacking style of play under German manager, Daniel Farke. Wide men, Todd Cantwell and Emiliano Buendía, are pivotal to the sides attack, offering a constant breath of fresh air when the team gets forward to start counter attacking. Both provide vital support to Teemu Pukki, the in-form front man, and super sub, Jordan Rhodes. I’m expecting to see a lot of those four throughout the full ninety.

I see the key battles lying in midfield, between Derby’s Bradley Johnson and Norwich’s Leitner and Tettey. It’s a big match for Johnson against his former club, and he has a crucial role to play. With the Rams conceding in the first 10 minutes of their last three matches, it’s important that we keep it calm in front of the back four.

The predicted line-ups for me are as follows;

(4-3-3)

Carson

Forsyth

Keogh

Bogle

Johnson

Bryson

Mount

Wilson

Marriott

Bennett

(4-2-3-1)

Krul

Aarons

Klose

Zimmerman

Lewis

Leitner

Tettey

Buendia

Stiepermann

Cantwell

Pukki

Let’s hope for a positive result, up the Rams!
