Oldham Athletic Preview vs Mansfield Town

Oldham head off for a midweek test against the Stags, Mansfield Town looking to improve from the two draws in the past two games.

The main missing link on Saturday was strike talisman Sam Surridge who suffered a late injury before the game.

It has been said that the Bournemouth loanee is touch and go before kick-off at the OneCall Stadium.

Instead Chris O’Grady and Ishmael Miller combined alongside Callum Lang to ill effect.

It is likely Surridge may miss the second consecutive game so it will be up to the experienced strikers to try and find a way to beat Mansfield.

Barring that the team could remain the same due to Bunn not liking tinkering with his established lineup.

The team were also strengthened further on Saturday with Cameron Dummigan returning to the fold so only really Ousmane Fane and Jordan Lyden remain long term absentees.

It is noted that Fane has been continuing his recovery so is still on track to return at around Christmas time.

The likely line up will be in defence the established four of Andy Taylor, George Edmundson, Peter Clarke and Rob Hunt with Hunt under threat now Dummigan has returned.

The midfield three will likely be Dan Gardner, Christopher Missilou and Johan Branger-Engone who have performed well so far this season.

This leaves the strikers with Callum Lang, Ishmael Miller and Chris O’Grady likely to play. Jose Baxter could find himself in the lineup or Surridge could play a part from the start but it will likely be unchanged from Swindon.

Predicted XI – Iversen, Taylor, Edmundson, Clarke, Hunt, Missilou, Branger-Engone, Gardner, Lang, Miller, O’Grady

Oldham 0-1 Mansfield – See Mansfield claiming a narrow victory in this one especially if Surridge is not involved but at the same time, I see it as a game that could go anyway.
