Rotherham United welcome Stoke City to the AESSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday teatime with the game being shown live on Sky Sports.
The Millers who have a decent record at home will be looking to make it five wins from six when Gary Rowett’s men travel to South Yorkshire for the encounter.
The game on Saturday will be the first league meeting between the two clubs since the 2004-05 season when the Millers management duo of Paul Warne and Richie Barker were still playing for the South Yorkshire outfit.
At Rotherham’s old stadium, Millmoor, the sides drew 1-1 with former Stoke striker Ade Akinbiyi cancelling midfielder Paul Shaw’s opener five minutes from time.
At the Potters home ground the same season Rotherham got the win in a tight 2-1 victory with Stoke striker Gifton Noel-Williams, who had cancelled out striker Martin Butler’s opener, put through his own net in stoppage–time, the Potters finished with ten-men after defender Michael Duberry was sent–off for a second bookable offence.
This season the Millers boss Paul Warne will be hoping his side can claim all three points as the clubs home form will be crucial to them staying in the division.
Stoke City come into the game sitting in 18th in the Sky Bet Championship table one place above the Millers on goal difference and on the back of a 3-2 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers.
Despite late strikes from Saido Berahino and Tom Ince, Rowett’s side couldn’t force a point against a strong Blackburn Rovers side.
Their last trip on the road in the league saw Rowett’s side earn a valuable point against a Sheffield Wednesday side who have began to find form.
Predicted Rotherham United XI: Rodak; Jones, Ajayi, Wood, Mattock; Towell; Williams, Manning, Vaulks, Vassell; Proctor.
Match Prediction: I feel the Millers home form and the fans at home will help Warne’s side to claim victory in this game and they will secure it comfortably.
Prediction: Rotherham United 2-0 Stoke City
