For the majority of the game, Mowbray’s men looked to be marching towards a comfortable victory away to Garry Rowett’s Stoke City.
3-0 up in 47 minutes and surely nobody could see a comeback for the home side.
A chance just before the hour mark gave Dack a chance to double his tally for the game, though the chance was unfortunately missed.
The way we played was amazing, with little fault being able to be found in any of the players. Our ball play was second to none and it was difficult to see just which team had spent the last season in the premiership.
The goal action started in the 26th minute, with some very patient build up play landing at the feet of Bradley Dack, who was never going to miss.
Just before half time, Rovers once again showed their attacking prowess, with a failed offside trap from Ryan Shawcross allowing Danny Graham plenty of time to slot the ball home.
Into the second-half, and the Lancashire outfit started off where they had left off, with a goal. A good passing move involving fan favourites Elliott Bennett and Bradley Dack ended up with the ball at Harrison Reed’s feet, who had no problems putting in a third.
79 minutes in and Peter Crouch unsurprisingly beat Ryan Nyambe in the air, and the ball was to hit Saido Berahino to pull one back for the hosts, though at this point there still wasn’t to much worry in the away end.
Just two minutes later, Stoke City came calling again. Once again, Berahino was involved as he put a shot across goal to be turned in by Tom Ince.
At this point, nerves for the blues were all over the place and it began to show on the pitch, as for the first time in the game, Stoke controlled much of what happened.
If nerves weren’t already high enough, a 93rd minute penalty was given to stoke after a foul by Darragh Lenihan. From the penalty, Berahino smacked the bar, followed by sighs of relief from the away end.
