Reading take on Norwich City on Wednesday night bidding to win their second consecutive game this season.
Victory at Preston on Saturday was a huge relief. Another win would be brilliant for everyone at the club. Hopefully Saturday’s win will persuade a few more fans to get behind the team. I for one am excited to go to for the first time this season.
As usual, my predicted line-up was far from correct! Mo Barrow missed the game to welcome a baby Barrow to the world, so a big congratulations to them. Vito Mannone tweeted saying that he sustained an injury in training, and is expected to miss both games this week. David Meyler was a doubt for Saturday’s game so he will probably be a lot closer to being fit for Wednesday. He can only expect a place on the bench however after the very positive performances from Kelly, Bacuna and Swift at Deepdale. Tyler Blackett is also expected to miss the game against Norwich due to a hamstring injury.
Josh Sims is seriously staking a claim for a starting spot, with very impressive appearances off the bench. Paul Clement may want to continue to use him as an impact sub however.
There was also a Championship debut for Andy Rinomhota at Deepdale, which was very popular with Reading fans. A performance that wasn’t too popular was that of Chris Gunter. Both goals came from Reading’s right hand side, which, has really not helped his, or indeed Sone Aluko’s reputation with Reading fans. The latter’s assist for Tiago Ilori’s goal will do his confidence a deal of good.
Norwich will go into the game on the back of a impressive win at home to a strong Middlesbrough team, so will be reasonably confident of earning at least a point. They’re a side full of very competent, technical sound players, so should provide a stern test.
Injuries probably mean a relatively unchanged team on Wednesday night, especially after a first win of the season. Saturday might be a good opportunity to freshen things up.
My predicted line-up is as follows;
GK: Sam Walker
RB: Chris Gunter
CB: Liam Moore
CB: Tiago Ilori
LB: Andy Yiadom
RM: Sone Aluko
CM: Leandro Bacuna
CM: Liam Kelly
LM: Mo Barrow
