Yeovil come into the game against Newport County on a run of four consecutive clean sheets, and having had a week off during the international break.
The Glovers last game was away at Grimsby Town, with Bradford City Omari Patrick coming off the bench to score the winning goal.
The break arguably came at the wrong time for Yeovil, who were on an excellent run, particularly at the back. It has allowed a couple of players to come back into the side following injury. Wes McDonald and Tom James should both be fit having missed the last game due to injury.
Middlesbrough loanee Enes Mahmutovic will be available for the first time following his time away with Luxembourg, while Shaun Donnellan returned from injury in time to make a substitute appearance for the Republic of Ireland Under 21 side against Germany this week.
There are still a few injuries. Stuart Nelson and James Bailey are yet to play this season, and could be out for a while yet. Francois Zoko is also still out, but he hasn’t really been missed much in recent weeks. Yeovil were not at their best against Grimsby, but were able to ground out the win, meaning they currently sit eighth in League Two, with a game in hand over all but one of the teams above them.
The defence will be hoping to keep up their good form, with new signings Nathan Baxter, Carl Dickinson and Gary Warren all having an impact. This weekends game against Newport will be their toughest challenge of the season yet though.
County have won each of their last four games, and have also done well defensively. The pair actually have very similar records, having both lost only one game, and scored nine goals. The only difference comes at the back, where Yeovil have conceded just three goals, and Newport have conceded seven, but three of those came in the opening game hammering at the hands of Mansfield Town.
Predicted X: (4-4-2) Nathan Baxter; Tom James (if fit)/ Bevis Mugabi, Gary Warren, Omar Sowumni, Carl Dickinson; Yoann Arquin, Alex Pattison, Sessi D’Almeida, Wes McDonald; Omari Patrick, Alex Fisher.
I finally got one right with the win against Grimsby, but I expect this to be a tougher game for the Glovers. It may be a bit of a battle, that may suit Yeovil, but I expect Newport to cause them problems up front.
