After their first defeat of the season last time out to Chelsea. Bournemouth will be looking to bounce back this week with the visit of Leicester, who like the Cherries have made a very good start to the season. Victories against Wolves and Southampton and then falling to defeats against Manchester United & Liverpool which is no mean feat.
There has been a real English core to most of Leicesters good work in the opening month of the season. With players such as Harry Maguire, Ben Chilwell, James Maddison and Demarai Gray starring for the Foxes. Maguire the most recognizable from the group has carried his outstanding World Cup form into the new season and has helped build a solid base at the back for the East Midlands outfit. While Chilwell, a product of the Leicester academy has overtaken Christian Fuchs as the starting full back at the King Power this season. Along with Gray earning a call up to the national team with the former making his debut. Maddison could feel hard done by being the only one of the latter to miss out on the national team but there is no doubting that he has been sensational for the Foxes since making the move from Championship outfit Norwich City for £24m.
It will be a tough test for the Cherries to stop Maddison & co but their defense looks a lot more stable than at this time last year. This potentially could be down to the two defensive reinforcements over the Summer of Jefferson Lerma & Diego Rico who looked impressive in both of the matches they’ve played since making the move from Spain and will look to continue this form on Saturday.
One to watch out for the opposition – James Maddison
The English attacking midfielder has made the step up look easy since moving from Norwich City for £24m in the Summer. A player with a fierce long shot and silky dribbling skills will look to unlock the Bournemouth defence on Saturday.
Bournemouth – Ryan Fraser & Charlie Daniels remain unlikely to play any part against Leicester with Fraser picking up a knock while on international duty with Scotland and Daniels still not fully recovered after missing the Chelsea game two weeks ago. On a more positive note for Eddie Howe, Junior Stanislas & Marc Pugh were back in training over the international break and may be in line to make the bench for this weekends game.
Likely Line up – Asmir Begovic; Adam Smith, Simon Francis, Steve Cook, Nathan Ake, Diego Rico; Dan Gosling, Jefferson Lerma; David Brooks, Callum Wilson, Josh King
Leicester – A huge boost for The Foxes with Jamie Vardy returning after a 3 game suspension with the only absentee being Matty James who has an Achilles’ tendon injury.
Likely Line up – Kasper Schmeichel; Ricardo Pereira, Wes Morgan, Harry Maguire, Ben Chilwell; Wilfred Ndidi, Nampalys Mendy; Rachid Ghezzal, James Maddison, Demarai Gray; Jamie Vardy
Score Prediction – Bournemouth 2-1 Leicester
A game that could easily go either way and will be a tough test for the Cherries whatever the case. But I feel they will just nick it here.
