After scoring his goal in over two years, can Saido recapture his form and fire Stoke into the Prem?
It’s what all Stoke City fans will be hoping for after the striker scored his first goal since way back in February 2016. However, even despite his long run without a goal, Berahino has still remained popular at the Bet365 Stadium.
We all sensed that his first goal was coming, his application during an incredibly rough period of his career has been second to none. So far during what has been a pretty poor start to Stoke’s first season back in the Championship, Berahino has constantly stood out above other Stoke players.
Unlike a few of the Stoke players who have hidden when times have become difficult, he’s constantly tried to get on the ball and make things happen in the final third. His play on the ball has also been exceptional, showcasing to Stoke fans there is a good all-around level of play from him. Which is positive considering I don’t think the system Rowett plays currently suits him at all.
Hopefully, after the rather fortuitous goal against Huddersfield, he will start showing the form that made the likes of Tottenham desperate to sign him. With the confidence and more importantly the relief of that first goal, Stoke fans will hope he goes on to be one of the top scorers in the league this season. I’m hoping Rowett introduces Spanish creator Bojan into the team, as a player with that level of vision, skill and flair could only help Berahino in the scoring department.
